I have been trained in medical massage, Swedish massage, and active isolated stretching. Medical massage is generally focused on treating specific pain issues and often involves working on muscles in the front of the body as well as the back. Swedish massage is more relaxing and is aimed at restoring tissue health and improving circulation. My massages generally include techniques from both modalities to achieve client goals. Active isolated stretching is often included in the session as well.
Therapeutic stretching techniques which work with the body’s natural physiological makeup to improve circulation and increase the elasticity of muscle joints and fascia. Based on the work of Aaron Mattes, AIS is widely used in the sports world to enhance performance and prevent injuries as well as in the medical field to restore the body to proper postural alignment and full range of motion.
